Orange is the New Black Season 3 Premiere Vlog #ORANGECON || TSD

This past weekend was an amazing one. I got to spend time with the most important man in my life - my daddy - and I got to binge watch the new season of Orange is the New Black. While doing so, I realized that I never got around to sharing the awesome opportunity I had last summer of attending the Orange is the New Black Season 3 Orangecon event - the press conference and the fan premiere event. So, I put together this vlog of all the footage I had left!

On a serious note, in many ways, this show is exactly what America needs. Many people are very quick to classify this show as "trash television", but it is, in fact, shedding light on the wide array of social and political problems plaguing this great nation. Gender roles, LGBT issues, racism, prison and judicial's all there. If you actually watch this show closely and pay attention to the hidden messages, you will realize this platform is an activist's dream come true. The one thing that keeps me a loyal fan is the fact that this show presents the audience with a diverse cast. There is no "white washed" fallacies. The characters are different and very much real. This show is a great feat for the entertainment industry. Without trying to talk in cliches, there is no denying that OITNB exemplifies that our differences will only divide us if we allow our minds to negate those differences. Being different doesn't have to be scary. It can be what unites us. For that reason, Orange is the New Black will forever be one of my favorite shows.
