Attention all fashion
lovers! It’s time to pull out the best of the best from your closets and put
together your most creative outfits. New York Fashion Week is finally upon us!!
Whether you are an aspiring designer or fashion blogger wannabe (guilty!), this
time of the year creates our NYC sanctuary. However, with all the costs and
time associated with being a part of fashion week, it sometimes becomes a
hassle to live out our fantasies of being at these events. Not many people
realize that attending fashion week does not always have to be an attack on
your bank account. Many new designers/collections/boutiques use this auspicious
time in the fashion world to release their new projects, and many of these are
very budget friendly or even free. When it comes down to this week, there is
only one prevalent uniform reason a person would wish to participate: their
love for fashion. Whether you are more avant garde or more haute couture, there
is always something for you to revel in during NYFW. This past winter Fashion
Week, I informed you about the Priv Beauty Pop Up, and this time around, I want
to introduce you to the New York Fashion Week Style Bar on Saturday, September
12, 2015.
This year, NYC based
company, Studio15 and Solescription are teaming up to launch their new
collections. Best part about it all, it is open to the public. The very
talented Jia Wertz founded Studio15. After spending time in Uganda, Africa and
helping women develop sustainable businesses, the drive and dedication these
women had inspired her to follow her own passion and dreams. Thus, she created
Studio15 – a fashion forward brand, which presents the contemporary, trendy
audience with reasonably priced, yet modern/chic pieces. Furthermore, Jia’s
philanthropic inclination remains at the forefront of Studio15, where a portion
of each sale helps supports women entrepreneurs in developing countries through
a portion of Kleos Microfinance. They not only support that cause, but they
also have #FreeAdnan tees in their shop that supports the young man, Adnan
Syed, of the Serial podcast fame. Studio15 has been gaining popularity
exponentially in recent times. In the last week, they have dressed and styled
the actress and host of Access Hollywood, Liz Hernandez (Link to the clip). At the NYFW Style Bar event on September 12th, they will be
launching their Bespoke Collection. This collection allows customers to be
designers for a day and custom design a one – of – a - kind piece that will be
produced for them within two weeks. Their existing collections bring out the
classic touch to modern fashion. Definitely check out their website here.
The
other partner in crime to this event is the shoe company Solescription. Much
like the ideal of renting the runway, Solescription makes it possible for the
customers to rent out a personalized shoe collection for a flat rate every
month. Best part about this renting gimmick: you keep the shoes as long as your
heart desires and then send it back in your pre-paid box. Oh yeah, and shipping
is always free both ways. Can I get a hallelujah for this amazing company? The
shoes are to die for and the ease in business makes this new company a needed
investment for your closet. Moreover, Solescription also like Studio15 uses a
portion of all memberships in supporting NGOs that help with resolving issues
women face all around the world. So sign up, get these shoes, and do some good for
the world. Because like Marilyn said, “Give a girl the right shoe, and she can
conquer the world.” Checkout Solescription here.
So, now on to the fun
stuff, on September 12, 2015 from 3 to 9 PM, Studio15 and Solescription are
hosting a party during the holy time that is New York Fashion Week. Pamper
yourself with free makeovers and hair styling, indulge in professional
photography, network with New York’s fashion elite, drink, socialize and have a
good ole’ time at The Chester, Gansevoort Meatpacking, 18 Ninth Ave, New York
City. There will be music featured by DJ Temisphere and enjoy some excellent
drink specials. Also, all guests will be able to revel in a secret preview of
Studio15’s new collection. Best part about it all, for all my followers, you
will be able to use the discount code FLAWLESS for 50% off the tickets. That
means tickets will only be $10, and if that’s not motivation to go, I will be
doing a giveaway for my followers that do attend. For one lucky guest/follower,
you will be winning an item from Studio15 that I will buy from my own money for
you! All you have to do is attend the event, share this post on social media, and like my Facebook page. Once you are done, send me an email (theshipradiaries@gmail.com) with a screenshot of your ticket and you will be entered into the giveaway. There is nothing better than supporting companies that are driven to help
the world be a better place. So I better see you all there!
